St Petersburg - Part 3

I planned to do a walking tour of the city with a company called Peter's Walks.  It is supposed to show more of the sights off the beaten path & not the main sights which I already seen.  The cost was just over $20 & unfortunately when I showed up there was no one else there except the tour guide.

I told the guide that I understood if he needed to cancel the tour, but told him that I couldn't make it to the tour the next day.  After walking out of the meeting place, he said he felt bad that I had planned my day around the tour & offered to give me a solo tour for the regular price. The tour guide Dimitry is a local & speaks 5 languages including English.  The tour was really good, he talked about communist life, the city's architecture, & pointed out historical spots.  We also visited a couple of local markets & parks, overall it was an excellent tour.

After the tour, I visited the marble palace, Peter & Paul's fortress, & St Issac's cathedral.

Another photo of the fortress

Lots of people sunbathing outside the fortress, unfortunately I could not find any of the beautiful women that Russia is supposed to famous for on this beach!!

St Issac's cathedral.

Some views of the city from the top of the cathedral.

After another long day of walking, my final full day in St. Petersburg will be a day to sleep in, see a few cathedrals, & just take it easy.
