St. Petersburg - Part 4

I had seen most of the main tourist sights in St. Petersburg already, so I decided to visit a few more cathedrals that I had not seen & do another walk around town.

Here are photos of the two cathedrals that I visited.

During my walk downtown, there were lots of fans for the World Hockey Championships showing support for their teams.

Fans from Slovenia.

This is what the main tourist street named Nevsky Prospekt looks like in afternoon.

There are many tourists that gather around the main cathedral, the girls in the mini-skirts are trying to get guys to pose for a photo with them (for a fee of course).

Putin is still popular with the general public even though the economy is in poor shape.

Here is a van selling fish down the street from my apartment in St. Petersburg.  I think I would rather my fish from the supermarket.

Here are a few photos of the town at night.

I enjoyed my visit to St. Petersburg & to Russia overall.  It was worth the hassle & cost to get a visa.  My next stop is Helsinki, Finland on a high speed train that takes 3.5 hours from St. Petersburg.

  1. Chris, what do you think the folks back in Charleston would say if you wore one of those Putin shirts around town? I can't believe they actually sell those!

    1. Putin is really popular in Russia and a lot of the tourists in Moscow and St. Petersburg are from other parts of Russia. I definitely wouldn't be wearing one of those shirts.
